On purity of raags and mixed raags…

Our teacher said that while Naushad stuck to pure raags, RD Burman and OP Nayyar always mixed and matched raags. In fact, 70% of all film music has impure mixes and they sound melodious and wonderful. So while composing light non-classical music (सुगम संगीत), there is no real justification to stay within the confines of a single raag.
