Today, Fri. 16-Jan-2015, is the 89th birth anniversary of O. P. Nayyar(1926-2007), the legendary music director, who refused to use Lata Mangeshkar’s voice even a single time!

“Naya Daur” (1957) was a breakthrough movie for many who were part of the movie. Dilip Kumar was so impressed by the opportunity to act the lead in this movie, that he accepted a token signing fee of ₹1.

B. R. Chopra had signed on the ethereal Madhubala as the heroine.
However, her busybody meddling father put in so many whimsical conditions, that Chopra unloaded her and signed on Vyjyanthimala instead!

Naya Daur bagged the Best Music Filmfare Award for the year 1957, the year I was born.

O.P. Nayyar, composed a lot of songs in 2/4 marching time -- a.k.a. trotting horse time. This song was penned by Sahir Ludhianvi.
The hero and the heroine are celebrating their getting together. The words of the song -- “By asking for togetherness with you, I have asked for the whole universe!”
