From 1961 to 1973, I went to Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School, Chembur, Bombay 71 AS (estab. 1957).

Every year we would have a Parents and Prize day, when the kids that topped their class in the previous year were felicitated.
Each kid's parents or guardians were invited to witness a variety entertainment program, organized by the teachers, in which the school kids participated.

In one of these events. circa. 1965, we had implemented a theme of International tourism.
The master of ceremonies, I believe was our headmistress: Mrs. Viola D’Lima’s nephew: John Britto.
He dressed up as an Air-India maharaja with red sherwani and striped turban.

Vivid memories of the songs we sang and danced to, in that event, are permanently etched in my mind.
Our KG-A teacher, Mrs. Coutinho provided piano accompaniment on stage.

(1) Pearly Shells (Pearly shells from the ocean; Shining in the sun...)

(2) Little Dutch Mill (Far across the sea in Holland; In the land of wooden shoes...)

(3) There was also a Polynesian song, we sang, wearing grass skirts and carrying spears.
The lyrics at the time were nonsense syllables to me, but nevertheless, I remember them and the melody very well.
“kaa’undii laalaa, seela la ma cho, kulaa laa kaa kaa’undii ku baanga la ma cho!”
